Rumor: PSP2 To Make An Appearance At E3

Posted by admin On May - 13 - 2010

We’re really looking forward to next month’s E3 Expo, especially with the PlayStation Move, Project Natal and Nintendo 3DS still firmly in our minds. But aside from those devices, a rumor has just sprung up suggesting that details on the next iteration of Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP) might appear at E3, and that would really be interesting. Let’s not forget that the PSP has already been on the market for a good six years, and aside from the PSPgo, there hasn’t been any major change to the portable console (aside from a few revisions). What do you think the next PSP will look like, and are you keen on Sony releasing a PSP2 (whatever it may be called), or would you prefer a Nintendo 3DS?

Stephen Colbert unveils Microsoft’s next console

Posted by admin On June - 22 - 2009

Stephen Colbert unveils Microsoft's next consoleWow, Microsoft has been on a roll lately. First the company unveiled Project Natal at E3. Then came the dreams of fantastic controller-less games, giggling like idiots at a weird, digital boy and squealing like children as we pretended to drive a car. And now, guess what kids? Project Natal is yesterday’s news, as Stephen Colbert somehow managed to get the green light from Microsoft to unveil its next Xbox console, the ExXbox.

Honestly, we’re at a loss for words. Forget Project Natal. Put away MotionPlus. Shelve the PlayStation Motion Controller. The level of innovation here is simply through the roof. Rather than attempt to describe how incredible it is, allow us to direct you past the break, where you can see the future unfold before your eyes (look for it at 1:40 in the video).

Rock Band Unplugged

Posted by admin On June - 10 - 2009

So Harmonix, MTV Games, EA, and Backbone got together to create a game for those who didn’t want to flick their screen with a stylus and finger an attachable keypad. I have a few things to say about the lack of attachments on PSPs, but I’ll come back to that later. So out comes what could be the coolest PSP port since God Of War. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you RockBand Unplugged. And let me tell you, they had a few tricks up their sleeves when it came to making this as addictive as the original.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine PSP Game Review

Posted by admin On May - 6 - 2009

Put yourself in the shoes of Logan, aka Wolverine. This game picks up where the “Origins” movie left off, with Stryker attempting to get some of Logan’s memories back using massive amounts of electricity. Seems to me that would basically turn his skeleton into a huge heating coil, but who am I to correct Stan Lee? He’s rich from making this crap up. I’m still a notch above homelessness and 5 for $1 Mac and Cheese. Don’t knock it. It’s good stuff.

Okay, back to the story here. As Logan is getting the shock of his life, he is having flashbacks to times before. It’s during these times that you take over as the clawed hero and go on a killing spree (aka recon mission) in Japan. Obviously, the story moves along from here, and things only get more and more violent with each passing memory.

Resistance Retribution PSP Review

Posted by admin On May - 2 - 2009

The Resistance franchise has had an up and down time over the past few years. Tagging along with the launch of the PS3, the first game became one of the most anticipated and successful titles of the launch period. Last year the second next-gen game emerged to mixed comments. And to me that mixed impression was justified.

Now we have the portable version looking to restore the series to its former self and while the PSP game does have problems, it is one of the better titles on the system because the developers have worked with the limitations of the system, rather than try to overcome them.

Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP!

Posted by admin On April - 9 - 2009

Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP!It seems like after several long years, the PSP is finally coming of age. Last month, Sony released Resistance: Retribution for the PSP (read our review here). This is one of the first games on the PSP to make extensive use of the internet, and Sony’s Playstation Network. Sony is finally starting to flex its muscles to offer more downloadable content, too… which means there are now “legitimate” reasons to have a 16GB memory stick in your PSP.

To help Sony’s portable device along in their newfound online interest, Rock Band: Unplugged is coming out for the PSP. Not only will this be the first portable Rock Band game (Nintendo DS has Guitar Hero World Tour), but it will offer a lot of downloadable content, in the way of new songs. The new songs will integrate directly into Sony’s Playstation Store, and apparently can download new songs without leaving the game.

Dark Sector (PC)

Posted by admin On April - 7 - 2009

Dark Sector (PC)Graphics throughout are well above par, as long as you don’t get fed up with the constantly dark atmosphere – at least you don’t need a flashlight! While certain objects break up as fire rains down from enemy machine guns, sadly obstacles and structures in general can’t be damaged. This is pretty poor because it means that an enemy character can hide just as safely behind a cloth tent as he can a brick wall. The dialogue can be goofy at times and some more ambient effects wouldn’t have gone unappreciated, but overall audio is good. While some have criticised the storyline and main character, I thought both were pretty neat. Dark Sector doesn’t change the face of gaming, but it is a good game and certainly worth a closer look.
