A bizarre animal corpse has washed up on a Canadian beach, reviving memories of the infamous “Montauk monster” that was discovered in 2008.

Two nurses discovered the animal corpse floating at the edge of a lake while they were walking their dog near the town of Kitchenuhmaykoosib in Ontario, Canada.

Giving devs access to freshly-announced versions of mobile operating systems on the very same day that they’re announced is pretty much the way things work nowadays — the first version of Windows Phone 7 understandably excepted — so we’re pleased to see that Google’s kit for Android 2.2 Froyo is now up and running. You start out by downloading a modest 18-odd megabyte package that just contains tools with no target platforms, then you open a separate app to pull and install only the platforms you want (you can go all the way back to version 1.5, if you’re so inclined). So kick off that download now while you grab lunch — we hear the lobster bisque they’re serving in the cafeteria today is pretty good.

Dr. Fritz Sennheiser, audio pioneer, dies at 98

Back in 1945, cryptographer Fritz Sennheiser founded a professional electronics company in an abandoned WWII German laboratory. Today, we’ve received the sad tidings that Dr. Sennheiser has passed away at the age of 98. Despite his firm’s humble origins building voltmeters from spare parts, his continued innovation led to products like the shotgun microphone and supra-aural headphones, and soon propelled Sennheiser to become a respected audio brand. He is remembered by his son Jörg, in whose hands he left the company in 1982, and by users of the many, many headphones that bear his name. Barcelona have successfully defended their Primera Division crown after a comprehensive 4-0 win over Real Valladolid on the final day of the season handed the Catalan giants the 20th league title in their history.

With La Liga’s championship race doing down to the wire this season, Pep Guardiola side had to overcome Valladolid in Round 38 to mathematically secure the title ahead of Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri retain the Scudetto once again…

Inter have won the 2009-10 Serie A title following an away win over Siena on the final day of the season.

Jose Mourinho’s men defeated the already-relegated Tuscans 1-0 thanks to top-scorer Diego Milito’s winner on 57 minutes.

The Nerazzurri finished the campaign two points above Roma with 82 points from 38 games, earned via 24 wins, 10 draws and just four losses. Inter also went the whole season unbeaten at home, just as they did last year.

This is Inter’s fourth consecutive Scudetto on the pitch since the Calciopoli scandal, and the fifth in succession if you count the title handed out in the courts in 2006.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Build 7601.16556 v.172

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Build 6.1.7601.16537 v.153 was leaked in the wild a little over a month ago and at that time, the bits came accompanied by documentation detailing the changes associated with the first major upgrade for the operating system. I did offer an overview of the evolution represented by Windows 7’s first service pack in April, but without going into all the details, reportedly coming from Microsoft. The Redmond company, of course, has yet to officially announce any changes for Windows 7 SP1, with two exceptions, the Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX features, or to confirm the leaked information.

However, the documents that made it outside of Redmond and into the wild alongside Build 6.1.7601.16537 v.153, do deliver an insight into the modifications planned for the service pack. Earlier this week, another early development milestone of Windows 7 SP1 was leaked. Build 7601.16556.100421-1510; Service Pack 1, v.172 is reported to be a candidate for the first fully-fledged Beta for Windows 7 SP1, by third-party sources, including Wzor, which shared the bits with the world.

Google: Oops…our Street View cars also saw websites you were visiting

Google today said it will stop collecting Wi-Fi network data from its Street View cars, after an investigation from the German Data Protection Authority (DPA) found the search company was also collecting personal data about user behavior on these public hotspots.

Google’s Street View cars weren’t only taking 360-degree images of our streets for use on Google Maps, but they were also pulling publicly broadcast SSID and MAC information from Wi-Fi hotspots.

“It’s now clear that we have been mistakenly collecting samples of payload data from open (i.e. non-password-protected) WiFi networks, even though we never used that data in any Google products,” Alan Eustace, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Research said today.

Drogba delivers Chelsea’s first Double

Didier Drogba won the double for Chelsea with the only goal in a quite remarkable FA Cup final.

Drogba’s 37th goal of the season was a free-kick just before the hour that found the net with tracer-bullet precision from 20 yards.

It maintained Drogba’s impressive record of scoring in all six competitive games he has played at the new Wembley and confirmed Chelsea as only the seventh club to complete the league and FA Cup double, a pretty significant achievement in Carlo Ancelotti’s first season in charge.

AMD Phenom II X4 960T not cancelled after all

Good news people the chip that was apparently cancelled is in fact, not cancelled. The Phenom II X4 960T is only going to be delayed and not completely cancelled. Our sources were not clear on what date the chip would be appearing in retail/on-line stores but were pretty sure that it would come eventually.

As you may remember, eTeknix.com reported yesterday that the “unlocking-friendly” Phenom II X4 960T would be limited to OEM’s and most likely be paired with a non-unlockable motherboard. Our sources suggest that this is only going to be a delayed case and that the Thuban CPU processors will indeed be available.

However we are not sure as to AMD’s intent and whether they will make the 960T less “unlockable” in that process, or when it will actually be available, but for now, we hear that it will be coming to retail/on-line stores sooner or later.

Better late than never I guess!

New iPhone in Vietnam spotted running iPhone OS 4?

This is a bit of a confusing one, but we just got tipped an additional shot of this 4th generation iPhone that leaked out in Vietnam, but this time with a big twist: it appears to be running iPhone OS 4. Or at least displaying a screenshot of the new OS, with that telltale wallpaper in the background. We have no idea how this crew might’ve circumvented Apple’s lockdown of the device, and there’s always the chance this is some sort of Photoshop or other trickery. Still, a source has confirmed to us that the markings “N90 PRO2″ indicate an older prototype N90 (the Apple codename for the new iPhone), which refers to “Working Prototype 2″ and might possibly be easier to enable than the newer, lock tight model Gizmodo obtained. Also, despite the photo’s out-of-focus nature, the display (or at least its contents) doesn’t appear nearly as sharp as those previous shots we saw of the “fireball” screen. We’re digging for more info as we speak, but unfortunately the original source site, Taoviet, is down right now. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything else about this image’s origins.
