Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Processor

Posted by admin On June - 10 - 2009

Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition ProcessorThe Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition processor is hands down the most powerful desktop processor ever benchmarked here at Legit Reviews. This was made crystal clear when the Intel Core i7-975 processor was able to beat out the Intel Skulltrail platform running a pair of Intel QX9775 processors. This is the very first time a quad-core processor with Hyper-Threading was able to knock down the 2P server/enthusiast platform running a pair of true quad-core processors. This is impressive considering just one Intel QX9775 processor runs $1555 shipped at Newegg! That means the $1039 Core i7 975 Extreme edition just beat a system using $3110 worth of processors! This is very significant and it’s no wonder Intel recently announced that the QX9775 was being discontinued…

AMD Athlon X2 7850 BE

Posted by admin On April - 28 - 2009

AMD Athlon X2 7850 BEToday we have the AMD Athlon X2 7850 BE, the big brother to the X2 7750. With an unlocked multiplier, and 64nm technology AMD plans on going head to head with the older Core 2 dual cores, as well as replaceing the older high end X2’s. This new CPU also features L3 cache, which should improve scores in all kinds of tests, along with gameing.

The question remains, can the new Athon compete with the older X2’s? Or is this another broken promise by AMD.

AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition AM2 Kuma Processor

Posted by admin On April - 28 - 2009

AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition AM2 Kuma ProcessorLast week’s launch of the Phenom II X4 955 was a big win with the enthusiast crowd. This week, however, it looks like AMD has shifted focused to the mainstream market. Not only is the highly anticipated Radeon HD 4770 launching today, but also a new dual core Black Edition processor: the Athlon X2 7850 AD785ZWCGHBOX. Based on the updated K10 Kuma architecture, the 2.8GHz X2 7850 is poised to take over as AMD’s flagship dual core processor. At only $69 USD, it’s also shaping up to be quite a bargain. Benchmark Reviews has thoroughly tested this new processor, and today we bring you our results.

At 2.8GHz, the Athlon X2 7850 BE inches ahead of the 2.7 GHz Athlon X2 7750 launched in December of last year. Beyond the 100 MHz bump in clock speed, however, these chips are essentially the same. That’s not necessary a bad thing, though. Clock-for-clock, the new Kuma based dual cores from AMD are much faster than the outgoing Brisbane core, thanks in part to the improved architecture, level 3 cache, and the addition of new instruction sets.

Intel Q9400 CPU

Posted by admin On April - 9 - 2009

Intel Q9400 CPUFor a $229.95 CPU we’re liking the performance of the Q9400, good price, overclocking champion that’s a winning combination. Any chip that costs that much and you can get a 50% overclock with a locked multiplier is good in our book. There’s more to get from the Q9400 it just depends on how bad you want bragging rights, you’ll need a high FSB capable motherboard and some nerves of steel mixed with a little overclocking skill but it’s there to get.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Processor Review

Posted by admin On March - 28 - 2009

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Processor ReviewThe Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 has four processing cores running at 2.66GHz, 6MB of shared L2 cache, and a 1333MHz Front Side Bus (FSB). If you are thinking of building an Intel LGA775 platform this processor should be at the top of your list. Read on to see how the Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 does against the other 25 processors it was benchmarked against.

Quote: “With four processing cores running at 2.66GHz, a total of 6MB of shared L2 cache, a 1333MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) and the fact that the processor is built on the 45nm process are all great reasons to think about getting a Q9400. Add to that a 1.2GHz overclock that was easy to reach and you have yet another winner from Intel. If you don’t want to go with an Intel Core i7 series processor, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9XX’s series of processors are good choices as they cost less and can still compete…
