HTC HD Mini

Posted by admin On May - 20 - 2010

As a component of an enterprise IT structure, HTC’s HD mini should slot in easily with the suite of existing devices. Its small size may appeal to those who don’t like the idea of carrying a large smartphone. However, the trade-off of a small screen needs to be considered carefully. Stubby fingers and poor eyesight are two reasons it may not be practical. And with Windows Phone 7 due to launch before the end of the year, businesses may consider it prudent to wait and see what that has to offer.

BenQ GP1

Posted by admin On June - 24 - 2009

BenQ GP1BenQ’s GP1 is a joy to use. It is compact and light, and setting it up takes only a few seconds using either the on-board controls or the supplied remote control. Designed for the home – the GP1’s brightness levels just aren’t good enough for presenting in the daytime – the projector displays a crisp image that contradicts its compact dimensions. It even comes with its own carrying case and a 2GB USB flash drive. And with a 20,000-hour rated lamp life it’s easier on the pocket compared to a regular projector. At 60W power consumption, the same amount of power in a well-lit room, the projector is also easy on your electricity bill. If you’re after a tiny projector that’s well equipped and performs suitably without breaking the bank, the GP1 is a good choice.

Case-Mate iPhone 3G Naked Actylic Case Review

Posted by admin On May - 6 - 2009

Case-Mate iPhone 3G Naked Actylic Case ReviewLike it or not, the iPhone dominates the Smartphone market. It looks really sleek and delicate, and is just begging to be ruined by just about anything. I mean, the iPhone gets unsightly scratches and fingerprints just by just thinking about it. All of its processing might and it still can’t win a battle against an enraged Dust Bunny.

The iPhone is begging for protection. The AT&T store rep even told me how one customer dropped their shiny new iPhone on the pavement right after walking out of the door. If you don’t have some sort of impact or scratch protection in place, then you’re begging to buy another one before your two-year contract is up. That either means purchasing one at full price, or resetting your contract to get a “cheap” phone.

Dell M109S Micro Projector

Posted by admin On April - 10 - 2009

Dell M109S Micro ProjectorIf you are looking for a projector you can carry with minimal effort so you can give presentations just about anywhere, Dell’s M109S fits the bill. It’s so small that it is guaranteed to impress your clients. The downside is that colours are washed-out compared to regular projectors and it is not very bright. There is no remote control, the touch-sensitive control panel is a pain, and an operating noise level of 32dB/35dB (Normal/Bright mode) is louder than I expected. Another annoyance is that the cable with the VGA connector is only about 2.5 feet long, which resulted in my laptop tugging the projector out of position. Still, it handles PowerPoint presentations with aplomb. If it makes you feel any better, you’d be investing in one of the most eco-conscious display technologies out there. But when there are really great performers are out there for the same price or less, you really are paying a price premium for the size.

Plantronics Explorer 370 Ruggedized Bluetooth Headset ReviewWorking with the Explorer 370 is really easy and natural. The headset just seems to work right with no weird quirks or hiccups. When a phone call comes in or when the user initiates a call, the headset responds quickly and transfers calls as fast as any headset we have tested. Advertised range of the headset is 33 feet and when tested in an open area, we can confirm those numbers. Usable range for the headset is easily 15-20 feet before encountering static or dropouts. For the majority of users – even those who have a need for a ruggedized headset – the range of the Explorer 370 will be satisfactory. It certainly doesn’t match the 100-foot + range of the Callpod Dragon, but then again, who really needs that kind of range?

Honeywell Airlite 740

Posted by admin On March - 30 - 2009

Honeywell Airlite 740If you are anything like me, you get tired of having a weight hanging off of your ear all day long in the form of a Bluetooth headset. While a Bluetooth headset is a definite improvement over the days-gone-by technology of wired headsets, it can become uncomfortable over time. It used to be that by the time I got home at the end of the day my ear would hurt from having the headset on all day. Not anymore!

Meet the Airlite 740 by Honeywell. It is the lightest and one of the most compact Bluetooth headsets I have ever come across. At only 9 grams, I challenge anyone to find a lighter headset. Weight is, however, not everything. Will this device deliver sound quality, ease of use, and reliability? For that, you will have to read on!

Mophie Juice Pack Rechargeable Battery for iPhone 3G ReviewedThe Ecosystem for iPhone accessories is this huge juggernaut that no one seems to be able to stop. But why would anyone want to stop it? Manufacturers certainly aren’t complaining because they are making tons of money off the huge margins this category of products has afforded. Fueled by the inherent weak points of the iPhone in general, companies are turning out products that do their best to gloss over these shortfalls while laughing all the way to the bank. One particular point of contention for most iPhone users is battery life.
