Intel Moblin V2 Alpha 2: It Boots Even Faster!Back in January Intel had pushed out its first alpha release for Moblin V2. This Intel-optimized Linux distribution targeting systems with Intel Atom hardware was quite unique and offered a number of advantages for being a netbook-oriented operating system. Particularly special about Intel Moblin V2 was its boot-time, which was extremely fast when using a Solid-State Drive. Benchmarking The Linux 2.6.24 Through 2.6.29 KernelsWith the release yesterday of the Linux 2.6.29 kernel, we have set out to explore how the desktop performance has evolved over the past six major kernel releases. AdventNet Zoho Writer 2.0

Posted by admin On March - 25 - 2009

AdventNet Zoho Writer 2.0The features of Zoho Writer are impressive, it looks great, and it is very easy to use – all of which are critical if it is intended to replace Office. Zoho Writer’s redesign works brilliantly and makes sure that the application doesn’t overwhelm you visually, which in turn makes it easier to work with. If you are used to working with Office or Web-based applications, you will feel right at home with Zoho Writer. It doesn’t offer some of the advanced features of desktop word processors, but it makes up for it with one of the richest feature sets of any online word processor. The only weakness of Zoho Writer – considering it is free – is that it is perhaps a little too much like Word, and can be as cluttered. Unlike more streamlined applications, you may find the multi-coloured buttons and options too distracting. But, seriously, that’s me being really picky! Zoho Writer is a fantastic word processor that provides a wide range of options. As long as you have a reliable broadband connection, there really is no need to pay for an office suite.

Actinic Software Express v2.0.1

Posted by admin On March - 24 - 2009

Actinic Software Express v2.0.1Actinic Express should be taken for what is: an entry-level, Web-based shopping cart that provides start-up Web retailers with a quick and cost-effective way to start trading online. It’s not an all-encompassing e-commerce solution that takes control of everything you need in order to be successful, but it does let you create and manage your own online shop very easily, all via a Web browser without requiring the expense and complexity of a weighty software package or a developer.
