The AMD Radeon HD  6790 turned out to be a very nice graphics card for the price. We saw it consistently beating the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB video card, which is the latest and greatest offering from NVIDIA at the $150 price point.  The AMD Radeon HD 6790 can also be easily overclocked as we were able to reach 900MHz on the core and 1120MHz on the memory before having stability issues.  We could have gone higher if we increased the GPU Voltage, but to keep things simple we used just the AMD Overdrive utility to see how far we could push this reference card...

The standard AMD Radeon HD 6850 graphics card by SAPPHIRE comes clocked at 775MHz on the core and 1000MHz on the memory. For those that want to take it up to another level the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 TOXIC Edition has the same internal architecture as the standard model, but the clock speeds are increased to 820MHz for the core and 1100MHz for the memory giving gamers a noticeable boost in performance.
